Award-Nominated Audiobook Narrator, who once enjoyed traveling around the world as an Air Force “brat”, has settled quite cozily with her family in Tampa, Florida. While living in France for a few years was exciting, her true inspiration in life has come from her love for the written word. She received a B.A. in English Literature and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida. Enjoying a 30-year career as a university medical school librarian, Lee Ann evolved into publishing her own words, penning nonfiction articles for children in a variety of magazines (including Children’s Digest, Boys’ Quest, Hopscotch for Girls, and US Kids.)

Lee Ann began working as a narrator for Iambik Audio, narrating literary fiction and romance. She also serves as an administrator/narrator for “Voices of Today” and “The Online Stage” as well as volunteering for LibriVox. Now, she enjoys narrating genres all kinds and especially loves True Crime, Literary Fiction and Non-Fiction – Bios & Memoirs.
When not recording, Lee Ann can be found under a pile of yarn knitting and crocheting blankets, amigurumi for her nieces, and oodles of ‘squares’ for the nonprofit organization, Love Squared. Other fun pastimes include going to estate sales, admiring her husband’s photography and other art, snuggling with her rescue dog – Cooper, binge watching British and Scandinavian movies/tv shows and driving her Mini Cooper – Mrs. Peel 2.0.

Voice Over Work:

  • Principal voice over for the first Agent Orange Awareness Day held by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, August 10, 2020.
  • Voice-over for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund site ‘Virtual Tour.’
  • Participated in the 2020 Memorial Day  service for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. Reading of letters left at the Wall.

AudioFile Magazine Review

“Narrator Lee Ann Howlett uses a compassionate tone for this story of the 1928 hurricane that killed 2,500 people in the Caribbean and Florida. Howlett enhances Kleinberg’s in-depth research of diaries, newspapers, and weather service and Red Cross information. Most fascinating is his use of personal recollections. Howlett’s skill with these makes for emotional listening, particularly when she’s describing the vastly different treatment of blacks and whites"

Reflections of a Book Worm

“I absolutely loved Lee Ann Howlett’s narration of this book… What really made this an excellent performance though weren’t just the different voices of her characters but also the accents. I am a native Texan and so many times I come across audio books or even on television where an actor or narrator will butcher the accent but Lee Ann Howlett was spot on.”

AudioFile Magazine Review

"Narrator Lee Ann Howlett personifies Southern charm and grit as she tells the story of Memphis’ Sun Records, the label that produced Elvis, Johnny Cash, and many other notables."

AudioFile Magazine Review

"Howlett’s warm rendering of Parton’s natural wit and considerable intelligence helps explain how she manages to combine the antithetical personas of an innocent mountain girl and a voluptuous sex symbol. In a conversational style, Howlett details country music history and Parton’s unforgettable entry into the male-dominated industry."

AudioFile Magazine Review

“Narrator Lee Ann Howlett does a rousing job portraying glorious New Orleans and its many residents. When 73-year-old Imogene Deal McGregor; her son, Billy; and his partner, Jackson Miller, arrive, they expect some traditional Southern hospitality but instead find their friend, Glenway Gilbert, dead in his studio. Howlett’s Imogene is hilarious, reckless, and determined to help solve the murder."

AudioFile Magazine Review

“Narrator Lee Ann Howlett compassionately depicts a time when being poor and female was very difficult. The Bunner sisters, Anna Eliza (the elder) and Evelina, eke out a living in their tiny Manhattan basement haberdashery. Howlett skillfully captures the generous, insightful Anna Eliza and her selfish younger sister. She also deftly conveys the vast changes that occur when Herbert Ramy enters their lives after Anna Eliza buys a clock for her sister from him."
